What are parabens?
Parabens are chemically based preservatives that retard the growth of bacteria and mold in cosmetics. These chemicals are also known to be carcinogentic and harmful to the body.
What preservatives do you use?
We don't use chemical-based preservatives. We use natural preservatives- citric acid, sodium borate, potassium sorbate (sorbic acid), Vitamin E, and grape fruit seed extract. We have our own propriety mix that makes our products last for quite a while.
Are your products vegan? Fair Trade? Local? Gluten-Free?
Yes, our products are 100% vegan. All of the products are dervied from plant-based material. The Body Glo Lotion and Cream contain a hint of Lanolin. ( These products are only 99% vegan.) Our products are also gluten-free for people that are allergic to gluten. No wheat -based ingredients are in any of our products. We use fair trade ingredients when we can, and source most of our materials from local vendors in our state or in a neighboring state when possible.
What is the big deal about paraben-free and petroleum-free ( mineral oil) products?
The main issue is that parabens and products with petroleum (and/or mineral oil) often work as toxins in the body. Although these products do add shine and often provide the skin and hair with a barrier, they actually don't benefit the body. The barrier that mineral oil (baby oil) and petroleum create often retard the skin and hair from absorbing vitamins, minerals, and even water. In which case, these ingredients have the oppostie effect of what you'd expect. They are not really moisturizing, they simply appear to be moisturzing; meanwhile your body is absorbing the harmful toxins that your skin will absorb from the chemicals. Petroleum and parabens are often placed in products because they are low-cost solutions. In other words, products with these ingredients often appear as a value-based lotion, cream or hair product. In actuality, these ingredients create a health risk. Petroleum is the same ingredient from which gasoline and crude oil are derived. Your skin will absorb the toxins from these chemicals if it comes into contact with them, regardless of the form.
How is it possible that you can have such great results without the use of chemicals?
Everything we need to create healthy bodies, skin, and hair already exists in nature. Natural ingredients are not less effective than chemicals ( man-made substances.) They are just as effective; they're simply from nature. Many chemicals are manufactured based on the structure of natural ingredients. Often they are cheaper because they are manmade. However, they often have side effects. We combine the most effective high-quality natural ingredients that we can source. We believe this is the reason for the great results people are reporting.
Why are your products more expensive than the ones in the grocery store?
All of our soaps are handmade, hand cut, and made with the finest ingredients; most are food-grade ingredients. Our soaps are made with olive oil, palm oil, palm kernel oil, and coconut oil. All of our soaps are 100% natural, with the exception of the lavender soap. It is 95% natural due to a bit of colorant. All products are made with natural preservatives (Vitamin E, Citric Acid, Sodium Borate, Grape Seed Extract ( GSE) ).
What's the benefit of using natural food-grade ingredients?
They provide your skin with vitamins and minerals that your skin absorbs. ( The skin absorbs 60% of whatever is applied to it. ) This allows the skin to retain moisture and elasticity, thereby creating a youthful appearance and glow. It also allows the skin to heal quicker. Olive oil based soaps allow the skin to breathe and sweat normally without clogging the skin's pores. Unlike other soaps and lotions, you do not have to be concerned with the consequences of the harsh chemicals on your body; our soaps are chemical-free. So, why are our products more expensive? We use higher quality natural ingredients ( mostly food-grade), and the results are tighter, more youthful, healthy skin. We think you're worth it. Don't you?

What is the philosophy behind the natural hair care line?
All hair needs moisture. Some hair types need more. Some need less. The make-up of certain types of hair, determine just how much moisture it needs. Straight hair( Type 1) and Wavy hair ( Type 2) need less moisture because they retain much more. They then appear shinier because light reflects off of straight hair much easier. Type 3a, 3b ( Curly),Type 3c ( Kinky-Curly) and Type 4 ( Kinky) require much more moisture, and when these types are moisturized with the right ingredients they will not only retain their moisture, but they will hold their curl. The shampoo has moisturizing ingredients as well as type cleansing ingredients. It contains just enough moisturizing ingredients so that Type 1 and Type 2 , may not need a conditioner after washing. Our shampoo conditions while it cleans. Type 3 and Type 4 hair will require more moisture. Our Conditioner and Hair Whips contain enough moisturizing ingredients to moisturize the hair, leaving shiny hair with defined curls. In other words, moisturized hair is stronger and healthier. Moisturized hair holds its curl, yes, even tight curls. Our products give hair what it needs in its natural form.
Are your products predominantly for ethnic hair or curly hair?
Like all of our products, our hair care products are all natural. Making high quality hair care products with natural ingredients is our first concern. Our products work on all hair types, and work especially well on ethnic and curly hair because our products moisturize and balance the pH of your hair. Curly-kinky hair is extremely dry. Because our products contain lots of moisturizing ingredients, they remedy that problem, and produce great results. When curls are moisturized, they look better and over time become stronger, healthier, and less brittle. People with straighter hair can make use of our all natural shampoos which also contain moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and jojoba oil. Because of this, a follow-up conditioner is probably not necessary for people with Type 1 and possibly Type 2 hair types. The shampoo contains enough conditioning agents to moisturize while it cleans. Our hair products are not simply for curly and ethnic hair. Even people with dry/straight, or colored treated hair find our hair products quite effective. They have been used on Type 1 to Type 4 hair types quite effectively. The quality of the natural ingredients render the products' effectiveness. In other words, yes, our products work on various types of hair, and they work exceptionally well on dry, color -treated, curly, kinky-curly, and kinky hair due to their moisturizing quality. They really are for everyone.
